Who are we?

CLASSP Logo CLASSP – Co-ordinating Local Agencies for Separating and Separated Parents was a pilot project, one of 10 pilots across the UK funded by the Department for Education. It ran from January 2010 – March 2011, its remit to support families going through divorce or separation, and during the 15 months it was operation, it supported over 700 parents with advice, counselling, mediation and parenting support, and provided counselling to 100 children.

Although CLASSP itself is now closed, many of the partner organisations it worked with continue to operate, and some are still able to provide free or subsidised services to some people on low incomes. Please click on the links to the right for more information.

The Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) is still able to provide free services to people needing advice about family matters, legal issues, debt and benefit queries; Mediation remains free or subsidised for divorcing couples who are on a low income or eligible for legal aid; some of the counselling agencies operate a sliding scale of fees for people on a low income, and some counselling for children is provided free. Many schools and children’s centres offer free support and information to parents needing help with family issues.
